PR codes are a series of 3 alpha-numeric numbers that are used to identify an installed component or the equipment level on a car, as it left the factory. If you have ever ordered a car from new, you may have noticed these codes in the official vehicle brochure and on the dealers order form; these PR codes are refered to as the Order Codes. Some PR codes are mandatory based on things like country and other equipment options chosen. Some PR codes superseed others. For example a car won't have 7X2 and 7X5.
The list of PR codes can be found on the data sticker, located on the inside cover of the service schedule and under the spare wheel cover. A vehicles PR numbers can also be obtained using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) using an online ETKA.
This link allows you to enter your PR codes and find out what they are. There is also a right-click option in ETKA to resolve PR codes. Certain part revisions may pertain to a particular PR code, i.e. a piece of equipment that is installed.
An example:
PRCode: 7X2 = Park distance control front and rear
PRCode: 7X5 = Parallel parking assistant
In the latest Audi A3 (8V) price and spec guide, page 64, 7X2 and 7X5 are listed as optional extras.
